I come from a world of stories (TV and radio) but these days I spend most of my time writing and teaching others how to write. I’ve written 15 books and am writing a 16th, ‘Taste and the TV Chef’  for Bloomsbury Academic bout the influence of foodie TV on who we are and what we eat at a time when food security is looming large. I write articles for the national press as well as academic journals, largely about food, philosophy and ethical travel.

I’m a part time senior lecturer at the University of Brighton where I teach students radio, TV and digital storytelking and staff how to tell stories about their academic research.

I also take my storytelling skills into the world of business, particularly to freelancers who often fight to find the right words to sell themselves. I teach children to find their voice, both in school and at my writing retreat The Sussex House Party. This is also where you’ll find me playing salon hostess over dinners with authors, facilitating writing courses and foraging for ideas in nine acres of silent woodland.
